The Raid 2: Berandal
9
Verdict: Watch it. I loved The Raid: Redemption so I came into this film with high expectations and the movie definitely delivered. Just writing up this review and viewing this gif makes me want to watch the film again. I shake my head in wonder at how good the fighting scenes in this movie are.

Cyborg
2
Verdict: Avoid. Jean-Claude van Damme and sci-fi aren't enough to save this movie from the worst music. Its so banal it makes watching this movie painful.

Death Warrant
5
Verdict: Avoid for all but martial arts and Jean-Claude van Damme fans. I enjoyed it but I am a martial arts and Jean-Claude van Damme fan so it was worth it.

Fantomas
7
Verdict: A fun watch if you're into old silent movies. The first of six films, I'm excited to see what this popular figure's dastardly deeds will be.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
4
Verdict: Avoid. Cheesy and just plain awful. Maybe this movie would be good if I had grown up watching the cartoons but I just find the costumes and dialogue stupid.

Akira
7
Verdict: Watch it. It's a classic though it didn't live up to the hype. The classic style and iconic motorcycle is awesome but the movie is all over the place. A friend said that reading the manga makes the movie a lot more enjoyable because you get a better understanding of the plot.

And I'm back...
Psycho

9
Verdict: Watch it. Hitchcock is amazingly skilled in this classic. He knows how to present a movie to make you feel exactly what he wants you to feel. Suspense

Alan Partridge
8
Verdict: Watch it if you enjoy British humor. Pay close attention to the quick dialogue and you'll realize the Alan Partridge character is genius and thoroughly enjoyable.

Michael Kohlhaas
8
Verdict: Watch it if you enjoyed Valhalla Rising. A movie that moves slowly gives you plenty of time to reflect on the impact of the main character's desire to seek justice.

...And Justice For All
8
Verdict: Watch it. Its frightening to realize the power the justice system has over an individual. Oh, and you're out of order!

Wall Street
7
Verdict: Watch it if you enjoy the vibe of Wolf of Wall Street. Its fun seen Charlie Sheen and his dad acting together in the same movie. Especially because you could imagine their conversations occurring today because Charlie is crazy and Martin seems down to earth.
"Greed, for lack of a better word, is good."

A Few Good Men
7
Verdict: Watch it if you enjoy military and lawyer movies. Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson have such a powerful on-screen presence.
"You can't handle the truth!"

Nightcrawler
8
Verdict: Watch it but be prepared to leave feeling empty.  Jake Gyllenhall is fabulous in this and his character is equally as alarming. Its an excellent reminder that we as a society love to watch horrible things happen to people... brb, headed to watch fail vids.

Another Huge Post

The Long Goodbye
Verdict: See it if you enjoy a film like Chinatown. The first ten minutes I disliked the main character but he quickly became the reason why I enjoyed this movie so much.

Serpico

Verdict: Stop what your doing now and go watch this film! It may not be the best film out there but the fact that its based on a true story about the corruption of power and complacency in the system makes it a must see.

Toys

Verdict: This is a truly underrated movie. This movie has a very unique way of telling a story. If your looking for a fun super artsy movie watch this. This is artsy in the way "The Fall" is artsy, not like "Drive."

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Verdict: The 2011 David Fincher version is better but this one is also enjoyable. I would recommend that if you've seen the Fincher version, make sure there is a large time period before you watch this one. It will help make the story more unique and better.

Dark Days

Verdict: Go see this movie. It takes a close look at a group of homeless people living in the New York subway. I found it a really good way to show the humanity of the homeless. While maybe a little different from what is considered a 'normal person' there just regular people trying to get by.

Until the Light Takes Us

Verdict: See this documentary if your interested in metal. This is about the Black Metal scene in Norway. The story is fascinating but the production of the film is horrible. They jump around a lot and don't give sufficient background information. I've heard that there are  better documentaries about the subject out there.

Galaxy of Terror

Verdict: It was fun to watch with a group of friends because we could make fun of it the entire time. This is a bad movie and only worth seeing because of the interesting fact that James Cameron, ie mr. titanic and terminator, was the production designer.

The Killer Elite

Verdict: See it if you like action films but be aware its nothing spectacular. It has big actors but feels so generic its sometimes nauseating. Its really tiring to hear 'I'm a new man, I'm done with killing after this' over and over. It was also disappointing that the film is based on a true story only insomuch that its based on a book that claims that some of the events in the story are based on a true story. In other words, its not based on a true story.

The Game

Verdict: A pretty average thriller film. I found it fun but nothing mind blowing. Its one of those movies that everything is a twist so by the end you just know that everything is a twist and it stops being surprising.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Verdict: I wish this movie was better then it was. I went into it thinking because its a truly classic horror movie that it would be good. Its not. The acting is laughable and at the end the main character is screaming so much you start to wish they'd just kill her and get it over with. There are a few really cool moments but they are few and far between. The ending shot, the one shown above, was cool. The sun is rising and he's crazily swinging a chainsaw. It was like a chainsaw ballet.

Shame

Verdict: This was a really cool look at addiction. Warning, its nc-17 and well worthy of that rating. Do not watch this with your parents. I love Michael Fassbender and he doesn't disappoint in this film. Its a deeply emotional film. Its very artsy and brings out the emotion by slow long takes. Its from Steve McQueen, director of Hunger, and I can't wait to see more of his work.

Rampart

Verdict: A film about a racist, bigoted, crazy, dirty, cop played by Woody Harrelson. Interesting but rather confusing at times. The director is trying to take a deep look inside this persons life but at the end of it I didn't care that much. At times he's just a little too crazy and the film loses its feeling of reality. I was also really tired when I watched the film so that probably made me less appreciative of the film.

The Last Emperor

Verdict: A definite must see film. I would have preferred the movie was in Chinese instead of English, but one gets used to it by the end. Where this movie really shines is the amazing insight to Chinese culture and history. The life of the last emperor of china was truly an amazing one.

Tons of New Movies!

Well this is going to be a big batch. I'm just going to name the movie and a short verdict cause I have so many to do:
Into the Abyss
Verdict: Watch it. Werner Herzog looks at a case of triple homicide just to steel a car. Very interesting view of the crimes and the death penalty.

The Killer
Verdict: Watch if you like cop/gangster films. But be warned it not your typical one, it has more drama.

Drog Dead Gorgeous
Verdict: A movie worth watching. Presents itself as a teen girl movie but turns into a dark comedy.

In the Name of the Father
Verdict: See it! This movie shows how the British government and police wrongly imprisoned an Irish family.

Underworld: Awakening
Verdict: Only see it if you understand that it is like all the other underworlds. Not very good but it has vampires and Kate Beckinsale.

The Wedding Singer
Verdict: A fun film. The sweet 80s music and Adam Sandler's yelling make this movie good.

Grizzly Man
Verdict: See it. An interesting look by the amazing Werner Herzog at a very interesting man. A man who chooses to live with grizzly bears, likes nature so much its an obsession, and *spoiler alert* gets eaten by a bear!

The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia
Verdict: Tread with caution. Warning: this is more of a reality tv show then a documentary. But still an interesting look at the extreme life's of a crazy Appalachian family.

Shaolin and Wutang
Verdict: See it because all kungfu is awesome! It has some surprisingly interest twists for a kungfu film. Even though the ending makes zero sense. Its something like "We're now full monks!!! Horray!! Lets forget that our friends are died and about revenge..." Huh?

The Avengers
Verdict: Watch it if you like a jolly good bit of fun. This is one of the better superhero movies and I love what they did with the Hulk. Hulk Smash!

Haywire
Verdict: Worth seeing if you like action. You would think it would be bad because the lead is an mma fighter but they don't give her tons of lines, its surprisingly well directed, there are some scenes shot in Los Alamos, and the most important thing, it has the wonder Mr. Fassbender!

Romeo + Juliet
Verdict: A movie worth seeing. The movie starts poorly with an over the top 90's art scene but it soon calms down and starts to become a very good film.

Knuckle
Verdict: If your into boxing see it. Its a very interesting look into the world of bare-knuckle-Irish-traveler's fighting.

Chinatown
Verdict: Watch it now! This movie is a classic and is so good. I love early Jack Nicolson and the ending is so good! I love that they were brave enough to go there. (I know its cryptic but see it so you'll understand what I'm saying)

RoboCop
Verdict: A classic scifi worth seeing. While its pretty campy it gets pretty clever with the the portrail of the all ruling/rule breaking corporation.

Kak se wui aka Election
Verdict: A great movie to watch it if you like gangster movies. This is more about the politics of being a gangster which makes it especially enjoyable to watch. Don't expect high octane action. Expect more even handed action that keeps you intrigued the entire movie.

War of the Arrows
Verdict: An action movie worth seeing. Really beautifully shot  film and having a movie full of arrows is pretty fun!

The Lady Eve
Verdict: See it. A movie about a rich idiot who and a super smart women who falls in love. Other then the fact that I don't think many men could possibly be that oblivious, its a quite a good movie. Barbara Stanwyck stole the show!

Hannibal
Verdict: See it if you really liked Silence of the Lambs. While not nearly as good as the first in the series, Hannibal is fun because it has Hannibal Lector. Only major quip is that Ray Liotta's character is so over top a dick that you don't really care that his brain is being eaten.
